No design skills? No problem! Introducing Canva.
Ever come across a tool that you thought “Wow, this is so easy even I can use it!”? Well, that is Canva. A super simple and FREE solution that allows anyone to create graphics for the online world. Don’t get me wrong, its no Photoshop (yet) but it provides such an easy-to-use solution that even a first-timer can create decent looking graphics.
After signing up for a free account, you simply login and Canva gives you a number of designs you can create. These range from an email header (our Australia Day newsletter header was created from this – if you are on our subscriber list) to graphics for all the popular social media networks (i.e. posts, covers, etc) to brochures, posters and blog graphics. Once you select the type of graphic you want to create, Canva provides the standard dimensions and numerous starting layouts you can choose from.
You can simply select one of these layouts and then customise however you like via simple click, type, drag and drop. You can upload your own images or search Canva’s database. There are a multitude of free images you can use. However, some of the images that Canva provide are considered “premium” and therefore cost a whopping $1! They have to make money somehow right? That, I say, is a fair price.
For the untrained, Canva is empowering. Being able to create professional looking graphics you can use in only a few minutes is liberating. Now you can make your emails, blogs, social media posts more engaging by creating neat little graphics to go along with them. It’s one tool that even the professionals will like.
